What if your dreams could predict the future?
Have you ever had a dream … only for it to come true in real life?
Or have you had an event in your life only to realize that you dreamt about it a few nights earlier?
The sensation feels too ‘real’ to be a coincidence. And the feeling is too personal to be explained away by science.
Is there a credible explanation?

What is a precognitive dream?
A precognitive dream is a dream that eventually comes true in real life.
Does this enunciate like a science fiction movie plot?
Maybe so, but there could be more than meets the eye.
Most people are quick to throw away the idea of a precognitive dream. They say it violates something that is known as ‘causality.’
This is also known as ‘Cause and effect.’
To have an effect, you must have a cause. With a precognitive dream, the effect happens before the cause.
But think about it for a moment.
If you’re someone who actively pays attention to your dreams, you may feel like you’ve experienced a precognitive dream somewhere down the line.
Maybe there was a strong feeling or déjà vu? Or you felt like you had a sixth sense?
Precognitive dreams always bring up so many questions and curiosities. Keep reading to learn more.
Why do you have premonition dreams? Are they real?
It’s thought that there are two reasons why you might have a premonition dream:
• They can serve as a warning
Maybe you’ve chosen to take a particular path in life.
In the deepest depths of your subconscious, you know this to be the wrong path. Yet, you continue. On the surface, you think everything is OK. Until…
You wake up with a real and vivid dream about some undesirable event in the future.
However, the beauty of such a dream is clear.
You’re given a choice.
You can observe the warning in your dream and act on it. Correcting your path.
Choose to ignore your dream, however, and you may open yourself up to risks that lay ahead.
• They can show that you’re on the right track
If you’re taking a wise path in life, a premonition dream will usually show you that things will work out well.
These dreams are usually vivid. It can be a place or a person that stands out.
It’s likely that these dreams engage all the senses.
Sights, smells, sounds, and emotions are heightened, eventually leading you to a déjà vu moment when you realize you’ve already been here before.
More on déjà vu to come…
But for now, coming back to the second question: are premonition dreams real?
Well, remember the “cause and effect”?
To have an effect there must be a cause. As such, there is no evidence to support premonition dreams.
So, the next time you dream about an event that has nothing to do with you, and it comes true, then this is probably a mere coincidence.
However, if the ‘premonition dream’ is about something close and personal to you, then it could be that your wise, subconscious mind is looking out for you and giving you a piece of information that you weren’t consciously aware of.
Here, it’s not that you have psychic powers, but you have an inner feeling or intuition that you’re experiencing through your dream.
In this sense, we could say that premonition dreams are very real indeed.
What causes precognitive dreams?
Many people are quick to discard the idea of precognition dreams… They’ll tell you that it’s mere pseudoscience (science that doesn’t add up).
But, what about when you consider the following example:
Imagine that you have a dream set in the future where you’re moving to a new house. Even though you always felt happy living in your current home.
…Then, three months later, in the real world, you’re packing your bags, ready to move. The experience is exactly how it was in the dream.
Now, there could be important underlying causes of this precognitive dream (and how it turned out to be true):
- Unconsciously, there was something bothering you about your current abode, even though you thought you were happy.
In the dream, your unconscious mind simply handed this information to your conscious mind and you became aware of the faults at play. - Your precognitive dream had a deep effect on you. It motivated you to take action.
Maybe you fell in love with your new “dream’ home. And this motivated you to take action.
Famous precognitive dreams
1) One of the most famous precognitive dreams to go down in history was that of Abraham Lincoln.
He apparently shared the following dream with a close group of trusted people, including his wife:
Finding himself in the White House, he took a stroll over to the East Room.
A group of soldiers and several mourners were surrounding a covered corpse.
Curious, Lincoln asked one of the soldiers who the body belonged to. To which, the soldier replied:
“The President. He was killed by an assassin.”
Roughly two weeks later, Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by an assassin.
2) Here’s another instance of precognitive dreaming, on a large scale:
In 1912, the Titanic was due to set sail, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on its maiden voyage.
Even though we all know it sank after colliding with an iceberg, here’s something you may not have known…
There were a lot of individuals who dreamed about the ship crashing.
Some of them had even bought tickets, and canceled their trip based on what happened in their dream.
However, you have to bear in mind that in 1912, the thought of a giant passenger ship crossing the Atlantic was incredibly huge news.
There was bound to be a lot of dreams on this topic. And, if you were one of the travelers, you were bound to be slightly nervous…
Which could easily lead to a possible dream as such.
Precognitive dreams and déjà vu
Déjà vu can be one of the strangest experiences we have as human beings.
Sometimes it can be a little frightening. Sometimes it feels good. And, sometimes it just feels creepy.
But, there’s something that really boosts its impact.
That’s when it’s experienced after precognitive dreaming.
It makes sense, right?
After all, experiencing a real-life event after dreaming about it days earlier can make you feel like a sixth sense.
It can make you wonder:
Do you have a real superpower? Or is it a mere coincidence.
Precognitive dreams of death
Have you recently died in a dream?
And you’re worried that it could be a sign of what’s to come?
Before I get to that, here’s one thing you may not be aware of…
You see, in many cultures, a dream of death was seen as a positive thing.
Not only that, it was actually regarded as a premonition that a new birth within the community was on the horizon. The dream was something to be celebrated.
These days, dying in a dream represents a change that’s occurred.
For instance, someone close to you is now acting differently. Or, a death dream can be spurred on by anxiety.
Whatever the cause, a death dream serves as a reminder to let us know just how precious life is.
It’s merely a reminder, not a premonition.
And, what if you dream about someone else dying?
For example, what happens when you dream about your partner dies?
This is very common. And, it usually means there’s a change in the dynamics of your relationship.
How do precognitive dreams work
Put simply, a precognitive dream is when you dream about the future.
But, how does this work?
In your dreams, you have access to the past. Of course, you do, right?
That’s because you’ve already experienced everything. And all these experiences are stored as memories.
And, by now you’ve probably had enough dreams about past events.
But, imagine, for a second, that you’re also able to access future events in your dreams.
Do you ever have dreams that are set in the future? How often do they turn into reality?
There are many people who claim to have ‘foreseen’ large-scale, global events before they actually happen.
For example, many people may dream about an earthquake the night before a big earthquake occurs. Are these people psychic?
Probably not!
The chances of a small fraction of the population having an earthquake dream is likely.
It just happens to be a coincidence that their dream is on the eve of a real-life earthquake. Although it probably doesn’t feel like a coincidence to the dreamer.
Does that mean you should discard dreams that take place in the future?
Of course not!
Dreams that are set in your future can be some of the most important dreams you have.
Whether you’re given a warning or being told you’re on the right path, the main job of your subconscious is to look after you.
So, the next time you dream about the future, take note. Just because the future hasn’t happened yet, doesn’t mean the dream holds no value.
Lucid dreaming precognition
What if you could set up a precognitive dream? Imagine all the things you could ask and find out about the future.
As you’re probably well aware by now, in lucid dreaming, you achieve a status of awareness. And actually, recognize that you’re dreaming.
So, how does lucid dreaming relate to precognition?
Well, there are two types of ways that these two phenomena can meet:
• Ambient – The dreamer is an observer of a precognitive event,
• Active – A lucid dreamer actively attempts to evoke a precognitive dream
While you shouldn’t expect to be delivered next week’s lottery numbers in a dream, combining precognitive and lucid dreaming can really offer you a gateway to intuition like no other.
And remember, while you can’t control everything that happens in the world, there is one thing you can control:
Your own actions.
So, if you dream about the future and you don’t like what you see, then ask yourself “Do I have the power to change the outcome?”
If the answer is “yes” then you’ve been given a gift.
You’ve been given a glimpse of your future, and have the power to manifest something better for yourself.
That’s one of the most powerful secrets when it comes to precognitive dreaming… And all dreams for that matter.
On the other hand, if you do like what you see in your precognitive dream, then consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
Enjoy what the future has in store for you.
My precognitive dreams are generally mundane and of little significance but do cause me to question the nature of linear time in the sleeping state.
My 15 yr old son is reporting that he has moments of “dejavu” but that the reality ends up being dreams that he had had as a young child. He didn’t recall the dream at the time but when the reality occurs, it triggers him to recall having had a dream about that exact moment and he can then recall having had the dream at two yrs old, for example. The scary part for him is that in the moment he realizes that he has had a dream about something he is experiencing, he feels he is having an out of body experience and it frightens him. Ie: while in class at school he recalled having had a dream when he was little of the exact moment that was happening in his class, this realization caused a reaction that caused him to run out of the room sick to his stomach. I have no idea how to guide him.
well you should go see a professional and try to talk with him more help him and reassure him that he isn’t alone in this situation
Maybe you can help your son see it as a super power or a gift that helps him prepare for future events and hopefully be curious about it instead of scared. Maybe he’d read about Einstein’s theories. They have some documentaries on Einstein’s quantum riddles. It’s fascinating!
How to use my premonition dream power to save the bad from happening.
My best friend of 30 years was diagnosed with cancer. Her treatments were going well. She was expected to make a full recovery. I had a dream that we were together in a limousine going to a huge, beautiful mansion on a hill. She looked so healthy, happy and beautiful. She kept telling me that she had always wanted to visit this place. We looked ahead and there was road construction. The roads were being paved with jewels that were every color of the rainbow. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful. I woke up from the dream very worried. She died exactly one week later from a heart attack. Very unexpected. She was 44. We met in middle school. I miss her terribly. I reach for my phone a hundred times a day still. I wish that I could explain my dream.
